India or Australia could join hosts South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in a quadrangular one-day tournament likely to be played in South Africa next month.

The idea to float a four-team series was made by Pakistan to compensate for the absence of Champions Trophy in September after the ICC decided to postpone the biennial event until October 2009.

While South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have confirmed their participation, India or Australia may fill up the fourth spot.
